Editorial

Editorial policy

Every page on this site is written to be checked. This policy states the sourcing rule, the review process, the correction process and the separation between editorial and commercial work.

1. The sourcing rule

A factual claim is published only if it can be traced to a primary source: a statute, a regulation, a regulator's publication, a national statistics agency, a central bank dataset, or an official government service page. Where a claim cannot be sourced that way, either it is attributed inline to a named source in the same sentence, or it is removed. We do not publish a figure because a competitor publishes it.

2. What is never published

  • Invented statistics, rates, fees, caps, amounts or timelines.
  • Invented author names, biographies, credentials or professional designations.
  • Reviews, ratings, testimonials or AggregateRating markup. There are none on this site, and none are fabricated.
  • Invented phone numbers, addresses or business locations. The site has no public premises and claims none.
  • Claims of approval, guarantees, or "everyone accepted" style promises.

3. How a page is produced

  1. Topic selection. Pages are chosen from real search demand for Canadian borrowing questions, not from what a partner wants promoted.
  2. Drafting. Drafts are produced by the editorial team, including with machine assistance, always against a fixed list of verified facts and an approved source list.
  3. Verification. A draft is rejected unless it passes automated checks on title and description length, minimum length, structure, citation count, and — most importantly — a numeric-claims check that flags any number not on the verified-facts list. Anything flagged is rewritten or removed.
  4. Publication and review. Published pages carry a review date. Values that change — rates, caps, limits — are refreshed from their source rather than left to age silently.

4. Corrections

If a page is wrong, we correct it and update the review date. Send corrections to hello@loanloon.ca with the page URL, the statement at issue and the primary source that contradicts it. Corrections backed by a source are actioned first. We do not quietly delete a claim that was wrong; we change it and leave the page live.

5. Separation from commercial work

Commercial relationships are held by the business side of the site, through an affiliate network. Editorial decisions — which products are covered, how they are described, which pages exist, and what a page says about the risks of a product — are made independently. No partner sees editorial content before publication, and no partner has removed or altered a sentence on this site.

6. Language and audience

Content is written for a general Canadian adult audience, in Canadian English, using Canadian terminology (instalment, licence as a noun, and provincial names as they are officially written). Where a product is expensive or risky, the page says so plainly rather than burying it.

7. Artificial intelligence

Machine assistance may be used to draft or expand content. It is never published unverified. Every page must pass the sourcing and numeric-claims checks above before it goes live, and the editorial team remains responsible for what is published. No content on this site is presented as the advice of a named professional, because no such person is being offered.
