About
What loanloon.ca is, and what it is not
We match Canadian borrowers with licensed lenders and compare the products on the market. We do not lend, we do not set rates, and we do not decide who is approved.
loanloon.ca is a free matching and comparison service for Canadian borrowers. It is not a lender, not a broker of record, and not a credit counsellor. This page records exactly how the site works and what we are responsible for.
What the site does
Three things, in this order.
- It explains. Every loan type has a page setting out how the product actually works, what it costs, what the law allows and what to compare. Those pages cite the statute, regulation or regulator they rely on.
- It calculates. The calculators run entirely in your browser. They do not send your figures anywhere, and they do not pre-qualify you for anything.
- It connects. When you submit a request, it is passed to a licensed lender or a matching partner. The decision, the pricing and the terms belong to them.
What the site does not do
- We do not lend money, and we are not a lender of record on any product.
- We do not set, negotiate or guarantee an interest rate.
- We do not run a credit check, pull a credit file, or make a credit decision.
- We do not guarantee that any request will be approved, or that an approval will carry particular terms.
- We do not provide financial, legal, tax or credit advice, and we are not a substitute for a licensed professional.
How the site is funded
Commercial links on loanloon.ca are affiliate links. If you follow one and take a product, the partner may pay us a commission. That is the site's only revenue. It costs you nothing, and it does not change what we publish, which products we cover, or the order they appear in. Our affiliate disclosure sets out the detail.
Where the numbers come from
Every published figure is either taken from a primary source and labelled with its publisher and as-of date, or it is not published at all. In practice that means:
- Population and dwelling counts come from Statistics Canada, Census of Population 2021, table 98-10-0002.
- Benchmark interest rates come from the Bank of Canada through its public Valet API, stored with the series code and the as-of date.
- Interest-rate and payday limits come from the Criminal Code, the federal Payday Lending Regulations, or the provincial regulator's own publication.
- Keyword volumes used to decide which pages exist come from a commercial keyword export, and are never presented to a reader as a fact about the market.
Where a figure has not been verified against the publisher's current publication, the page links to the publisher and says so rather than printing a number. Provincial payday caps are the clearest example: the table on payday loan limits by province shows a value only where the regulator's own publication has been checked.
Who writes the site
Content is produced by the loanloon.ca editorial team and reviewed against primary sources before publication. We do not publish invented author biographies, borrowed credentials, reader reviews or ratings. There are no testimonials on this site, because we have no way to verify them and a fabricated one is worse than none. Our editorial policy explains the process.
